Modern Believing is the journal of Modern Church. It is a theological journal in the areas
of modern theology, Christian ethics and current affairs. It is committed to theological liberalism.
It is also not afraid to challenge the sacred cows of liberalism itself.
Its particular concern is to promote a creative and constructive spirit
in theological enquiry and exploration. As the successor to Modern Churchman
(articles from the first edition in 1911)
and subsequently MC, the journal has a long record of contributions
from many church leaders and established theologians.
Modern Believing also gives opportunities to new voices. Strongly committed
to the ordination of women, the journal has engaged in opening up new and neglected dimensions
of religious life. It is important reading for those engaged in academic theology
and for those active in church life.
Modern Believing is published quarterly and indexed in the
ATLA religion database.
