Eucharistic Prayer

by Philip Tyers

Responses probably need to be improved, but this can be used within the existing service if the congregation do not have sight of the Eucharistic Prayers. It reminds them of the best bits of several. Philip Tyers.

The Lord be with you

and also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give thanks and praise.

Lord of all life, your face is turned towards your world and all creation echoes the silent music of your praise. Fashioned in your image we live in the garden of your delight. With breath and speech we sing your praise

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

As a mother tenderly gathers her children, You embrace all people as your own. Whenthey turn away and rebel, your love remains steadfast. Again and again you draw us, into your covenant of grace. In law and prophets you teach us, to look for your reign of justice, mercy and peace.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

As we watch for the signs of your kingdom on earth, we echo the songs of the angels in heaven:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

In Jesus you revealed the power of your love, made perfect in our human weakness. With signs of faith and words of hope, he touched untouchables with love and washed the guilty clean.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

The crowds came out to see him, yet at the end they turned on him. On the night he was betrayed, he came to table with his friend,s to celebrate the freedom of your people. Jesus blessed you, Father, for the food:. he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and said: This is my body, given for you all.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

Jesus then gave thanks for the wine; he took the cup, gave it and said: This is my blood, shed for you all for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

as we eat and drink in your presence, help us to work together for the day when your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Hear the cry of our hearts: Bless the earth, heal the sick, let the oppressed go free and fill your Church with power from on high.

Amen. Come, Holy Spirit.

that creation may be brought to perfection in Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, with whom, and in whom, with all who stand before you in earth and heaven, we worship you, Father almighty, in songs of everlasting praise:

Blessing and honour and glory and power be yours for ever and ever. Amen.
